Early on Good Friday morning (well about 10.30 am - early for me and the teenager) we joined the beachcombers on Seaham beach. The tide was way out, the sun was shining and this was looking like it was going to be a special day of inter-generational bonding.
We walked and talked all the way along the beach to the unusual hole in the cliff (more about that in a later post). We wrote our names in the damp sand and watched the nesting sea birds. We talked some more. I did some stretching out into the wide open space and breathed deeply. The teenager petted the passing dogs. We walked back along the beach, picking up sea glass as we went. There were many exclamations of "look what I've found" and "ooh look at this one" - and a few little happy dances along the way! A visit to the ice-cream shop rounded off this lovely morning and when we got home and shared our findings we found that we had made a rainbow ... simply perfect. (look at the dark blue piece and you will see a famous Seaham Sea Glass multi)
