About
I am lucky to live 5 minutes from Seaham beach, on the north east coast of England. Its ancients cliffs are home to sea birds and its sandy beaches are home to sea glass and pebbles. It is a great place to take in the fresh sea air!
Seaham is famous for its abundance of sea glass and receives visitors from across the world who come to collect it. Sea glass is a by-product of the glassmakers and bottle-makers who worked along the River Wear in Sunderland over 100 years ago and also in the village of Seaham (a few miles down the coast from Sunderland). Sea glass comes in all colours, shapes and sizes and I would love to share with you photos of my finds. Sometimes I am lucky and find a multi coloured piece which has two or more colours combined and a happy dance is called for!
Beachcombing is a very popular pastime here and the beach is littered with people bending, sitting and lying down, rummaging through the pebbles. I prefer to walk and see what catches my attention, sometimes a special piece is glistening on the sand and that is an exciting find.
So, this blog is about sharing beach finds, photos of the ever changing weather and general beach happiness. I hope you enjoy reading it and join me on my trips to Seaham Beach.
